Shaping Up

Alright, so for those of you who don’t know me, I have gained weight recently. Now, weight gain isn’t all bad, but if it’s mostly fat, it’s bad. My drivers license (got it last updated at 18 years old) says I weigh 155. I weigh between 210 and 215 right now, depending on how much I’ve eaten recently and such. I don’t look horrible, but I don’t look great either.
So this isn’t a New Years resolution so much as it is a “keep me accountable to getting my butt in shape” note. Jonathan Torrell, a buddy of mine from Wandering WiFi and co-founder of BravesBlast.com, is running the ING half-marathon in March on the Shirlock Foundation team (more on the Shirlock Foundation in a minute). He lives about a mile from my house and I’ve told him I’ll train with him. Whether or not I’ll run the half-marathon, we’ll see. But I’m going to get into shape and I’m going to turn some of this fat into muscle.
The Shirlock Foundation aims to ease the financial burden of families of college students facing Leukemia. Jonathan’s former roommate, Jonathan Shirlock, lost his battle with Leukemia in April of 2006 and Torrell has been helping run the Shirlock Foundation since. The Georgia Tech football team recently wore Shirlock Foundation wristbands at the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho. Check out their website to see more information on everything related to the Shirlock Foundation.
So I’ll be getting into shape here over the next three months. Time to prepare to buy smaller pants. Booyah.
Oh, and I hope Hawaii exposes UGA for being complete posers tonight. I freakin’ hate how UGA is consistently overrated year after year.
